In contrast with this global industrial farming model, alternatives suggested by the agricultural sector are gathering speed. They are supporting returning to cultivating the earth and consuming local, seasonal and also organic produce.

Initiatives such as organic school canteens, the website and the weekly markets selling local and organic produce are growing and showing that there’s a need to return to the earth, demonstrated in an increasing demand for healthy, local foods.

That’s why (and despite the global crisis), being a farmer is currently one of the safest job options with the greatest scope for the future. This is because, among other things, maintaining the current global food model is expensive in every way and the alternative, in short, is common sense.
