Amics de la Terra celebrates the fourth workshop with German tourists in the Serra de Tramuntana

This week we have celebrated the fourth and final day of conservation volunteering with German tourists and residents in the Biniaraix ravine (Barranc de Biniaraix). Results of an environmental survey amongst German hikers in the Serra de Tramuntana

The majority admire the landscape but are not aware of the difficulties to maintain it. Half of them are willing to dedicate one day to voluntary work to improve its conservation. Last weekend, around 30 people (German tourists and locals) took part in a novel volunteering day organised by Amics de la Terra Mallorca to help recover olive groves and dry-stone walls in the Serra de Tramuntana, thereby raising hiking tourists' awareness of the importance of maintaining them and the challenges in protecting a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ecology organisations vote against the proposed distribution of proceeds from the ‘tourism tax’

As set out by the Sustainable Tourism Tax Commission's plenary meeting rules, GOB and Amics de la Terra Mallorca will present their 'no' vote in writing within a 72-hour period after the meeting is held.
