As every year, Amics de la Terra will take part in activities to mark World Environment Day. You already know that we remember to care for the planet every day and carry out related activities, but this day encompasses the work and actions of many organisations and administrations in the fight to protect the environment.
The date of 5 June was set by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in Resolution 2994 (XXVII) on 15 December 1972. It marked the opening of the Stockholm Conference (Sweden), whose main theme was the human environment. This year, World Environment Day focuses on the illegal trade in wild species.
There’s still a lot of work to do to make sure that the environment is respected in the way it deserves, as all our activities and lives depend on the natural resources it offers us. We have to keep working together to make sure this happens.
Here are the activities that we’re going to run, and to which you’re invited:
Fri 3 June 2016: Environmental education workshops for schools in Sant Llorenç
Sun 5 June 2016, 10am-2pm: Stand at Son Servera fair (in collaboration with Son Servera Council)
All activities, except the school workshops, are open to the public and free.
We look forward to seeing you there and encourage you to keep caring for the environment all year round!
