Devastating floods in Pakistan, out-of-control forest fires in the summer in Spain, Russia and California… The worrying predictions of climate change scientists are coming true.
Europe must lead the way at the next Climate Summit in Cancún, Mexico, in December 2010. However, Spain hasn’t even reduced its CO2 emissions to the level agreed by European countries, but has had to buy ‘carbon credits’ with 638m€ of public money.
Although this system, known as emissions trading, corrects the ‘CO2 balance’, it doesn’t stop rich countries from polluting. It simply moves their problem to poorer countries that don’t have the resources to defend themselves against the effects of climate change.
Sign up to our campaign and ask the Spanish commitment for a firm commitment at the Climate Summit.
