Climate and Energy

Call for secondary schools: Free workshops on ‘Energy and its impacts’

Amics de la Terra, supported by Fundación Guillem Cifre de Colonya, is offering the chance to take part in workshops to educate students about:

The workshop aims to educate, promoting environmental criteria, responsibility and habit change.

TARGET AUDIENCE: 4th year secondary school (ESO) students in municipalities in Mallorca.

WORKSHOP LENGTH: 1 hour (we can adapt to your classes).

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW: Using audiovisual aids and debate, students will discover that our model depends completely on importing fossil fuels from other countries. They will discuss energy consumption in the Balearics and the energy production system, and also visualise how local communities in other countries suffer the negative effects of oil drilling. We’ll finish off with a more global perspective to promote a change in the energy model and help support effective, local solutions.

HOW TO BOOK: If your school is interested, let us know as soon as possible by contacting participacio@amicsdelaterra.org or 971 797 939 (8am-2.30pm). Please complete the attached sign-up form; we recommend a minimum of two workshops per school. Bookings taken on a first come, first served basis; you need to receive a confirmation from us to know if you have been successful. LIMITED PLACES.
